Acne
is an inflammatory condition of the skin frequently associated with
teenagers. Typically characterized by clogged pores and pimples, cysts,
blackheads and whiteheads, Acne, or Acne Vulgaris affects the face,
shoulders, back, neck and chest. The most common causes are changes in
hormonal levels, increased sebum production, bacteria (P. acne) and
changes inside the hair follicles. Severe acne or acne that is not
treated properly can lead to scarring.
Patients
with Acne are typically treated with antibiotics or topical creams.
Today laser therapy has proven to be a very effective and faster way to
treat active acne.
Repeated treatments lead
to an observable reduction in active acne in 2 to 4 weeks. Results of
acne treatment by sebaceous gland heating have been reported to last up
to 6 months.
